Dr. Rachel Sowards
Dr Rachel Sowards is a WV native who received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at University of Charleston and Doctor of Medicine at Marshall University School of Medicine in 2005. She then completed a dual residency in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, American Board of Addiction Medicine and American Association of Medical Review Officers. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Medical Association.
She has practiced internal medicine and general psychiatry in an integrated setting and started a successful substance abuse treatment program in a Federally Qualified Health Clinic 5 years ago. Dr Sowards currently provides general psychiatric care at Psimed’s Charleston office. She started a new addiction program at LiNKS in September of 2015. Her training enables her to comfortably and effectively care for patients with comorbid medical, psychiatric, and/or addictive illnesses.
Donna Arey, LPC, ALPS
Licensed Professional Counselor
Donna Arey, MA, LPC, ALPS, RTC is a WV native who received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with minors in Philosophy and Psychology from WV State University. She then completed her Masters of Arts Degree in Counseling from WV Graduate College.
She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and an Approved Licensed Professional Supervisor (ALPS) approved by the WV Board of Examiners in Counseling. She is also certified in Reality Therapy (RTC).
Donna has been in the field for 30+ years. She has provided counseling services to adults in the following settings: In-Patient Psychiatric, including addiction; intensive out-patient; out-patient; employee assistance programs (EAP); out-patient rape crisis; drug court.
She has been providing counseling services at LiNKS for Medication-Assistant clients, clients with individual, group and family counseling, including clients with co-occuring diagnosis. She has also been providing mental health counseling.
Hope Hartz ED.S, MA, LPC, AADC
Addictions and Mental Health Therapy
Hope Hartz is a WV native who received her Bachelor of Science in Communication at West Virginia State University. She received her first Master of Arts in the Humanities at West Virginia Graduate College. Her second Master of Art was in Counseling and she earned that at the Marshall University Graduate College as well as her Education Specialist Degree with an emphasis in substance abuse. Hope has 19 years of experience providing mental health and substance abuse treatment. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and an Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor. She has practiced with children, adolescents, and adults in the following areas: in-home treatments, intensive outpatient, drug court, and currently at LINKS.
Genieva Long is a Licensed Practical Nurse and the Clinic Coordinator for Links Treatment and Counseling Center. She has worked in the medical field since 2000 and has experience in Critical Care, Urgent Care, Substance Abuse, and Family Practice settings. She initiated and managed a successful substance abuse treatment program with Dr Rachel Sowards in 2011. Genieva was the Nurse Manager for a local Urgent Care before coming to work for PsiMed in 2015.
